On the other hand, purified drinking water is water that goes through a careful treatment or process to remove or minimize unwanted bacteria, minerals and other impurities. Purified water does not have to come from a specific source but must undergo a strict purification process. Some of these processes are carbon filtering, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet oxidation, and capacitive deionization.
Because purified water is highly treated, it is practically free form chemical compounds and minerals – both good and bad. It is pure water but is mildly acidic, which is why it has no taste at all.
