A transgender person is someone who does not accept the normal 2-gender rule usually accepted by society. He deems that he has a different gender and not that which is visible to the people around him. Transgender is a generic term that may comprise transvestites, transsexuals, cross dressers and others. These people are difficult to describe. The sex of these people may make it clear who they are, but what they feel about themselves is something difficult to determine or understand. In some cases, however, their sex and sense may be all the same.
As aforementioned, transsexuals may be those who fail to identify themselves with the gender they were born with. These people may fall under the category of transgender too.
Transgender is a multifarious term that is used for a person who does not feel content with this society’s normal rule of male and female. They may think of themselves as a third gender person, or multigendered, or two-spirit, or even gender nonconforming. It varies from one person to another. They may account for around 1% or even less of the total number of adults.
A transsexual person is someone who cannot accept his or her inborn sex. He or she identifies themself as the opposite sex. This perception is termed as gender dysphoria. While society sees the person belonging to a specific gender, the person believes that they belong to the opposite gender. In the view of experts, it is due to the mismatch realized between their sex organs and the part of the brain that defines their gender. In simple words, a transsexual is a man who feels that he is a woman, or a woman who feels that she is a man.
Although there is not much difference between the two terms, transsexuals are particularly those people who find themselves trapped in the body of the opposite sex. The identification for the two types of people differs tremendously. Some transgender people may be diagnosed with Intersex conditions or Gender Dysphoria. On the other hand, transsexual people are specifically dubbed Gender Dysphoric. Medical intervention can aid in treating the problem of gender dysphoria.
